Vacation Bible School

Dear parents,

We are now entering the second mid-semester break. Have you signed your child up to attend Vacation Bible School (VBS), organized by Children’s Church of DUMC? It will be an exciting, fun and wholesome time for your kids! The camp’s theme is ‘Get in the Game: Where Heroes are Made!’

Speaking of heroes, every child looks for a hero to admire and emulate. What and which kind of ‘heroes’ would you like your child to have in his heart? Are basic character values an important part of the modeling?

Most children find their heroes from movies and television shows. The producers of the media world know full well the motivating factors of a child’s appetite for entertainment and his search for a worthy hero to look up to. Powerful, immortal, fascinating and somewhat morally inspiring ‘heroes’ are created time and again to fill your child’s imagination and capture them as potential life-long gold mines for merchandising their products.

Do you get involved in helping your child to distinguish and identify good values to model his/her life after? Who gets to dominate your child’s character forming and values shaping? Heroes from the Bible are realistic and wholesome, and no less inspiring as the fictional movie characters. Find out more about heroes in VBS for yourself!
